Increasingly, in obstetric practice, a violation of carbohydrate metabolism began to occur, gestational diabetes mellitus. In response to maternal hyperglycemia, the fetus also develops hyperglycemia and hypertrophy of the endocrine part of the pancreas, leading to increased metabolism and the formation of macrosomia. Neonatal complications such as respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal hypoglycemia, and birth trauma are often found in a newborn [1]. Mentioning the long-term consequences, it is worth noting the trend towards adolescent obesity, diseases of the cardiovascular system, and type 2 diabetes mellitus in the future [2]. Our study aims to study the characteristics of the fetus and newborns in mothers with gestational diabetes. The following results were obtained: patients with GSD were more likely to have large fetuses and newborns were monitored in the neonatal pathology department.
